Toynami has acquired the license to create action figures, lunchboxes and plush based on Emily the Strange, a dour little character created by Rob Reger, who looks as if she just escaped from the latest film remake of the Addams Family.  The black clad Emily and her four cats first gained popularity on the Internet and she has become something of a merchandising phenomenon with a strong appeal to the goth crowd. 

Already the subject of several books published by Chronicle, Emily will now get the toy treatment from Toynami, which plans on producing action figures for Emily and her four cats (Mystery, Miles, Sabbath, and Nee-Chee) as well as lunchboxes and plush figures.  This line appears to be a natural for the Hot Topic chain as well as for pop culture retailers with sizable female clienteles and strong Vertigo/Slave Labor sales.
