Diamond Select continues to add licenses and increase the number of products planned for the next year. In recent months Diamond Select has signed licenses with Marvel (see 'Diamond Select to do Ultimate Statues'), Central Park Media (see 'Diamond Select Signs Deal With CPM') as well as the licensing companies that control 'Battle of the Planets' and 'Peter Rabbit.' Now Diamond Select has inked a deal with CMG Worldwide, the marketing agency that controls licensing rights for over 200 dead celebrities including Marilyn Monroe.
Diamond Select hopes to have the first of six special die cast cars featuring Marilyn out before the end of 2001. Five of Marilyn's top films have recently been released on DVD and the blonde bombshell remains as popular as ever with film fans. Each of the six Marilyn die cast cars will commemorate a different classic Marilyn Monroe performance including The Seven Year Itch, How to Marry a Millionaire, Bus Stop, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. No SRPs were given for the cars, which will be available 'at various retail outlets, including comic book and specialty shops across the country.'
