Typically September signals the start of the fall/winter onslaught of major theatrical movies on DVD, but one of the most important September releases for pop culture retailers this year has never had a righteous release in U.S. theaters.  On September 5th for the first time on DVD American audiences will be able to watch Ichiro Honda's original Gojira (Godzilla) in a special 2-disc Collector's Edition (MSRP $21.98) from Classic Media that includes both Honda's 96-minute original version and the truncated 79-minute U.S. release version featuring an intrusive Raymond Burr.

This high value Godzilla Classic Collector's Edition features a high def transfer from a native 35 mm print and comes with a 16-page booklet detailing the making of the film and the way in which it was imported in the U.S., plus a number of extras including commentaries and two featurettes.  In short this is a true 'must have' item for all American Godzilla fans and collectors.
