San Diego Comic-Con is approaching, and more Hollywood news is getting released. Time for a round-up!
A new Judge Dredd movie is being put together, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Taika Waititi has teamed up with the rights holders of Judge Dredd, Rebellion Publishing's Chris and Jason Kingsley (see "British Comics"), to put together a movie pitch package for studios. Waititi is attached to the package to direct alongside Drew Pearce, who wrote Fall Guy and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
Sony Pictures has pushed back Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, according to Variety. The movie was originally set to come out on June 4, 2027 (see "'Spider-Man' Movie News") and it will now arrive on June 25, 2027. The shift in release date was a demographics-inspired move that coincides with more school-aged moviegoers being on summer break later in June.
DC Studios is looking to fast-track a reboot of the Wonder Woman movie franchise, according to Variety. This new Wonder Woman movie will be developed before the sequel to the recent blockbuster Superman movie (see "'Superman' Tops Box Office"). James Gunn also released a promo image of the upcoming Supergirl movie (see below).
Invincible has been renewed at Amazon Prime Video for Season 5, according to Deadline. In addition, they have added Matthew Rhys, who voiced Nite Owl in the Watchmen animated series (see "Watchmen"), to the voice cast.
Warner Bros. released a trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 (see below). The new movie stars Karl Urban, Adeline Rudolph, and Tati Gabrielle (see "'Mortal Kombat 2'"), and will hit theaters on October 25, 2025.
FX Networks revealed a second trailer for Alien: Earth (see below). This series premieres on FX and Hulu on August 12, 2025 (see "’Alien: Earth’ Gets Date").
