When Mike Judge's Office Space came out in 1999 it was well ahead of its time with its saga of workplace futility complete with a couple of worthless consultants (known as 'The Bobs'), who invade the Initech cube farm charged with cutting expenses by 'downsizing' and 'outsourcing,' two terms that didn't have quite the bite back then that they do now.
A failure at the box office where it took in only slightly more than $10 million, Office Space has since come in to its own as a cult film on DVD, and many of its catchphrases ('TPS Report,' 'A case of the Mondays,' and 'Red Swingline Stapler') have entered the popular lexicon -- all of which makes the Office Space license a natural for the collector-oriented Diamond Select Toys.
Under its agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing, DST has the right to make a wide range of collectibles based on the classic workplace comedy, but so far no announcements have been made. Can we suggest a diorama of the gang 'going Office Space' on that recalcitrant printer in a scene that hilariously recalls Casino?
