Bandai Entertainment has announced the acquisition of Sunrise's Zegapain, a 2006 mecha series created by Outlaw Star creator Takehiko Ito.  It will begin releasing the series on DVD later this year.

Zegapain, which mixes traditional 2D animation with 3D animation, tells the story of a high school swimmer who follows a girl into the pool and finds himself in a world where giant mechs (called Zegapain) are battling for the world's survival.
