Star Wars creator George Lucas told the L.A. Times that he has begun work on a live action Star Wars TV series, but 'The Skywalkers aren't in it and it's about minor characters. It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, or any of those people. It's completely different. But it's a good idea, and it's going to be fun to do.'
Lucas is currently working on an animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which he is producing himself and shopping to the networks (see 'Lucas Self-Producing 100 Animated Episodes') as a finished product. Lucas may end up producing the live action in-house as well, but Star Wars producer Rick McCallum told the L.A. Times no decision on that had been made yet. Lucas and McCallum are in Hollywood interviewing writers for the new live action Star Wars series.
