ADV has corrected its earlier press release announcing that it would stream the entirety of the new Gainax anime series Gurren Lagann.  Only the first three episodes of the new 27-episode robot anime series will be streamed in subtitled form on the Anime Network's Website as part of the Anime Network Online initiative that ADV announced last week (see 'ADV Launches Ad-Supported Broadband Anime Streaming').

ADV did indicate that other series would receive more extensive online exposure and that some may even get 'full series broadcast,' though the anime distributor has not indicated which series will be streamed in their entirety.  But the reduction in the number of potentially hot new Gurren Lagann episodes appears to be enough by itself to mark the Anime Network Online program as another exercise in promotion, rather than as a potentially paradigm-shifting new mode of timely Internet distribution of subtitled anime series.
