All About Books & Comics has been serving the Phoenix area for over 20 years.  To gear up for the big May events, the store restocked numerous Spider-Man and Star Wars products, and created a 95-foot Spider-Man display and a similar Star Wars set-up.  With live costumed characters in the store, lots of TV coverage, and the right merchandise, All About has had an exciting May already, and it's not even half over!

The Store

All About Books & Comics is a three store mini chain that has been serving the Phoenix, Arizona area for over 20 years.  Owned and operated by Alan and Marsha Giroux and a wonderful friendly staff, All About provides one of Arizona's largest selections of new comics, back issues, toys, statues, anime, games, trading cards, supplies and an ever increasing product line.  With a knowledgeable, innovative and customer service oriented staff All About can supply the answers to all of your questions and is eager to meet your needs in the store or through worldwide mail order.

The Display

To capitalize on the release of both the Spider-Man and Star Wars movies AABC restocked a vast array of Spider-Man and Star Wars merchandise including trade paperbacks, statues, mini-busts, posters, etc.  We then created an entire wall, 95 feet of colorful Spider-Man merchandise that grabs you as soon as you enter the store.  In order to capture both new readers and old we included a huge array of back issue comics including Spider-Man #1 and Amazing Fantasy #15.  Another similar display focuses on Star Wars merchandise to build excitement of both die-hard Star Wars fans and younger, newer fans.

Results

We brought in many new customers in several ways.  We had live Spider-Man and Storm Trooper characters at the store, we gave away merchandise and coupons at the sneak preview of the Spider-Man movie, we hosted TV crews in the store, were live on Good Morning Arizona, and were live in the studio talking about comic collecting and had a display of HeroClix.  We invited viewers to come get their Free Spider-Man comic.  They did!  We saw countless new faces and they bought merchandise from the displays!  One customer came in to buy something he saw on the rack behind the TV reporter!
