Terminator Salvation (see “Best in Shows, Part 1”) is the biggest movie promotion ever for 7-Eleven, with a role in the movie and in-store, advertising, and sweepstakes tie-ins bringing the movie to 7-Eleven customers. A post-apocalyptic 7-Eleven store is featured in the film as a safe haven for the humans battling the machines.
In stores, a special Slurpee flavor, four Collector Slurpee cups, two paper Slurpee cups, four Slurpee Spoon-straws, and Big Gulp cup will all carry images from the film. Some 7-Eleven stores will also carry Terminator Salvation merchandise, including the new videogame that streets May 19th, two days before the premiere of the film.
Apocalyptic Ice, a special flavor developed by Coca-Cola, was one of the winning flavors in taste-tests held last summer. It includes blood orange and lychee flavors.
The sweepstakes will offer more than 100 prizes, including special Terminator Salvation Xbox consoles, videogames, Xbox Live online subscription cards, and Xbox headsets.
Radio advertising will support the campaign in some markets
Merchandise flow for pop culture stores is good, with Titan books, IDW comics, and Topps trading card all part of the mix.
