Zachary Gordon (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) has won the title role in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the big screen adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s mega popular graphic novels.  Thor Freudenthal is directing and Rachel Harris (The Hangover) will star as the kid’s mother.

Over 16 million copies of Kinney’s hybrid cartoon diaries have been sold so far, making it arguably the most popular illustrated literature/graphic novel property of the 21st Century so far.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chloe Moretz, who plays “Hit Girl” in Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass, is in talks to play the female lead in Wimpy Kid.
