The Weinstein Company has acquired a 25% stake in Starz Media, the companies announced. Starz Media includes anime distributor Manga Entertainment, DVD distributor Anchor Bay, and production companies Starz Productions (Sands of Oblivion), and Starz Animation (Space Chimps, 9), but does not include the pay channels.

 

Starz subsidiary Anchor Bay will get home video rights to up to 20 theatrical releases from The Weinstein Company and its Dimension Films label each year. That includes highbrow titles like The King’s Speech and Blue Valentine as well as sequels to such franchises as Scream, Spy Kids, Scary Movie, Hellraiser, Halloween, and Children of the Corn.
