In an interview over the weekend with Huffington Post Canada, William Fichtner announced he will be playing Shredder, the steel-masked Foot Clan nemesis to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 2014 movie reboot from Michael Bay.
 
"I play Shredder," Fichtner said.  "It is cool.  It's one of those things that came along where I thought, 'Really?  Let me think about this for a minute.'  [Laughs]  Then I was like, 'Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.'  I'm very glad that it worked out, I'm really glad that I'm doing it."
 
Fichtner is well known for his villain roles, and will next be appearing as the antagonist Butch Cavendish in Disney's The Lone Ranger.  Megan Fox will be playing April O'Neil (see "'TMNT' Meets 'The Man Show'"), Will Arnett is playing April's co-worker Vernon Fenwick (see "Arnett in 'TMNT'"), and Alan Ritchson will play Raphael (see "Turtles Cast").
 
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is due in theaters June 6, 2014.
