The Relativity Media reboot of The Crow has a star cast and the input of the original comic’s creator, according to Variety. James O’Barr, who created The Crow comics beginning in 1989, has signed on as a consultant to the film, and Luke Evans has been cast to star. Shooting on the film will start early in 2014, with F. Javier Gutttierez directing (see "'The Crow' Remake Back on Track").
O’Barr’s comics were originally published by Caliber Press and Kitchen Sink Press. Other publishers have also published Crow comics over the years; the property is now at IDW Publishing, where an O’Barr story was recently released (see "James O'Barr Returns").
Evans is no stranger to geek films; he appeared in the graphic novel-based Tamara Drew (see "Sony Snags 'Tamara Drew'"), and The Hobbit (see "Lilly, Humphries in 'The Hobbit'").
