Wyrd Miniatures made a big splash at Gen Con with a large booth full of demo tables for their new games.  At the show, they also gave a preview of three new games they plan to release in the next few months: Jet Pack Unicorn, Kings of Artifice, and Showdown: Icons.

Jet Pack Unicorn is a party card game inspired by the YouTube vlogs of Kristina Horner and Joe Homes.  Players must respond to "either or" style questions that are altered through the use of "transmog" cards, trying to convince the other players that their unlikely solution is the best.  Jet Pack Unicorns is planned for a late October release.

ICv2 met with a representative of Wyrd Miniatures, who described the game:

"It really has captured the female crowd, which is something that we’ve had just a really small portion of at this point.  This also came from a YouTube inspiration.  They have a Web series: basically, what situation would you rather be in.  So, different situations and you’re trying to con the other person that your solution is the best solution.  A lot of laughs.  We’ve been doing the demos and you can sit and hear the laughs and giggles as the people try to con everybody."

Jet Pack Unicorns follows on Wyrd’s earlier YouTube-inspired card game, Evil Baby Orphanage, which has spawned two expansions since its release in January: The Crayon Manifesto, available through normal distribution, and Nerdfighteria, which will only be available by direct sale.

Kings of Artifice is Wyrd’s first Euro-style strategy board game.  Two to four players compete to build mystical structures by summoning their special characters while hindering their opponents.  The game includes more than 200 wooden pieces, and will have a suggested retail price of $70.  It is expected to release in late October.

Showdown: Icons is a card-driven combat game built around a strong bluffing mechanic.  The game comes with five complete decks that can all be used against any other Showdown deck, and future expansions are planned to expand the selection.  Showdown: Icons will have a suggested retail price of $45, and is scheduled to release in late September.

In May, Wyrd also announced plans to release a new edition of its flagship miniatures game, Malifaux, in October (see "'Malifaux 2E'").
