The latest reports from England indicate that the injury suffered by Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars Episode VII is more severe than first reported and that it will keep the veteran actor, who is reprising his role as Han Solo, on the sidelines for six-to-eight weeks. The star suffered a broken ankle when a hydraulic door on the mock-up of the Millennium Falcon fell on the actor’s leg (see "Harrison Ford Injured").
A spokesman for the production told The Mirror, "At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for 6-8 weeks but the main priority is making sure he is OK."
Apparently J.J. Abrams and the crew at Star Wars: Episode VII believe there is still enough time to re-jigger the shooting schedule around Ford’s injury and still be able to make the film’s December 18, 2015 debut date. As a movie source told The Mirror, the process of re-ordering the production is well underway: "the initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule."
In addition to Ford, Star Wars: Episode VII will also feature original cast members Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher along with Star Wars newcomers Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, John Boyega, and Gwendoline Christie.
