Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired film rights to Descender, an Image comic by Jeff Lemire (Essex County, Underwater Welder) and Dustin Nguyen (American Vampire, Batman: Li’l Gotham), launching March 4. Josh Bratman (Fright Night, Priest) will produce, with Lemire and Nguyen as exec producers.
The space opera tells the story of TIM-21, a lifelike artificial boy whose machine DNA may reveal the origin of robots that have decimated entire planets. TIM-21 and his companions are moving from planet to planet as the entire galaxy looks for them (see “Preview: 'Descender' #1”).
Michael De Luca and Rachel O’Connor are the studio execs supervising the project.
