Stonemaier Games has announced the trade release of Tuscany, an expansion for its indie hit winery game Viticulture.  Kickstarter funding and print runs have grown exponentially since the release of the base game back in 2013.

Viticulture was funded at $65,980 from 942 backers ($70.04/backer average) back in October of 2012.  The initial print run was 2,500, according to Stonemaier Games President and Co-Founder Jamey Stegmaier.

Tuscany and a second print run of the base Viticulture game funded at $450,333 from 4,333 backers ($103.93/backer average) a year and a half later in April 2014.  Around 10,000 of each were printed, and around 3,800 of each will be made available to distributors worldwide, Stegmaier told us.

Stonemaier currently works with distribution broker Greater Than Games, publishers of the popular Sentinels Comics world of games (see "Three 'Sentinel Comics' World Game Expansions").

Viticulture is a strategic worker placement game, designed by Jamey Stegmaier and Alan Stone, where 2-6 players try to create the most successful winery in Italy.  Players build structures, plant vines and fill wine orders.  The game plays in 20 minutes/player.  MSRP is $60.00.

Tuscany: Expand the World of Viticulture, which will release in mid-February, is designed by Stegmaier, Stone, and Morten Monrad Pedersen.  The extension actually includes 12 expansions, which are gradually unlocked (or "uncorked") through a tiered system. The expansions add asymmetric starting resources, new and advanced visitor cards, an extended game board for actions in all four seasons, a special type of worker, and more.

The box contains a double-sided game board, 12 double-sided player mats, 36 Mama & Papa cards, 30 advanced visitor cards, 32 new visitor cards, 18 property tiles, a solo expansion (25 cards), 66 wood workers, 6 wood cheese cellars, 18 wood cows, 36 wood influence tokens,  6 wood morale tokens, 18 arbor cards, 4 promo cards, 18 glass tokens, 9 patronage cards, 9 mafia expansion cards, 2 quick-reference guides and a rule book.  As an expansion, it requires the base game to play.  MSRP is $70.00.
