Warquest will be the first collaboration in almost a decade for the creative team behind many of Drover’s earlier “big box” games, including Railways of Europe, Conquest of the Empire, and Age of Empires III: The Board Game. The game will feature artwork by Ralph Horsley (Lords of Waterdeep, Shadows of Brimstone).
In Warquest, each player is a warlord in a fantasy world, competing to conquer the world. Players recruit armies of typical fantasy races, such as elves and dwarves, while undertaking quests and fighting battles over strategic locations.
The game will include 115 25mm plastic miniatures representing various fantasy races, a 31-inch by 46-inch game board, 10 custom dice, over 100 cards, 80 plastic coins, and a variety of game markers and tokens. Warquest is for 1- 5 players, and takes about an hour per player to play.
The Kickstarter campaign includes a $300 retailer level, with delivery expected in January, 2016. Information about trade release is not currently available.
An earlier Kickstarter campaign for Warquest was launched and then cancelled some time ago. When asked why the campaign was relaunched, L4 Studios told ICv2 that they “wanted to get a few more assets in place and time our advertising better.”
Glenn Drover recently teamed up with Eagle-Gryphon Games to produce an updated version of his Age of Empires III (see “Revamped Deluxe Version of Glen Drover’s ‘Age of Empire III’”).
