The first “faction expansion” for the award-winning Imperial Settlers game will be the Atlanteans Expansion, created by designer Ignacy Trzewiczek.  Publisher Portal Games plans to release the new expansion at Gen Con in July, with trade distribution following in August.

The Atlanteans Expansion adds a number of new elements to the game.  Players can now play the Atlantean faction, which has new abilities, but must contend with the fact that all of its buildings are doomed to sink at the end of the game.  Thanks to the new faction, up to five players can participate in an Imperial Settlers game.  The new expansion also introduces the “Technology” resource, which can be used to transform buildings and unlock special card abilities.  While other factions begin the game unable to use the Technology resource, they can construct buildings that allow them access to the Atlantean tech.

As a game expansion, the base game is required to make use of the Atlanteans Expansion.  MSRP has not yet been announced.

Portal Games recently released another expansion for Imperial Settlers called Why Can’t We Be Friends (see “‘Imperial Settlers’ Expansion, ‘Neuroshima Hex’ Returns, More”).
