A remake of Big Trouble in Little China is in development with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in negotiations to star and produce, according to The Wrap. Johnson just had a big opening with San Andreas (see "It's Hard to Fault the 'San Andreas' Debut"), and will play the role of Black Adam in Shazam (see "The Rock to Play Black Adam in 'Shazam'").
X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have already been signed to write the script, according to the report.
The 1986 original starring Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, the all-American trucker dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in Chinatown, was directed by John Carpenter. While it had modest box office at the time, it’s still watched, and recently spawned a comic series from BOOM! Studios.
