Brooklyn Comics & More, Inc., owners of Brooklyn Comics & More and Manhattan Comics & More, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and its assets will be liquidated. The company listed around $101,000 in assets and $125,000 in liabilities in its filing. Liabilities included $71,799.93 owed to Diamond Comic Distributors; this amount, while unsecured, was personally guaranteed by the owners.
The corporation, formed by Robert V. Conte and Gary Esposito in September 2010, cited financial insolvency and other contributing factors as causes in its Chapter 7 Bankruptcy filing in the Southern District of New York on May 20. The corporation’s assets, comprised of comic books, graphic novels, toys, statues, apparel, and other collectibles valued at over $400,000 retail will be liquidated by MYC and Associates, Inc.
Brooklyn Comics & More, Inc. acquired Brooklyn Monster Factory in late 2010, reopening it as Brooklyn Comics & More on Halloween. It closed exactly three years later, on October 31, 2013.
Brooklyn Comics & More, Inc. purchased Cosmic Comics in Manhattan in early 2011, renaming it Manhattan Comics & More. The store closed on May 5, 2013.
