Comic-Con News: Los Angeles-based graphic novel publisher Humanoids announced a deal with prolific science fiction writer Robert Silverberg to adapt a selection of his books into comics and live action entertainment.

Silverberg is a multiple Hugo and Nebula Award winner who has been publishing novels since 1955. The first adapation will be the 1970 novel Downward to the Earth, adapted by Philippe Thirault (Miss: Better Living Through Crime), with art by Laura Zuccheri (The Swords of Glass).  The story involves the return of a human former administrator to the alien colony world he worked for after the planet’s inhabitants have gained independence.  He seeks forgiveness and redemption for the way he treated the natives,  for which he now feels a kinship.  Publication is planned for 2016.

Humanoids CEO Fabrice Giger and his production partner Pierre Spengler (producer of the 1980s Superman trilogy) will partner with Vince Gerardis (co –executive producer of Game of Thrones) to develop live action entertainment content as part of the deal. Humanoids' production arm recently announced a three-picture deal with Chinese production company Jetavana (see “Humanoids in 3-Picture Deal With Full House”).
