WizKids has announced Star Trek: Frontiers, a new board game based on Vlaada Chvatil’s Mage Knight Board Game will release in February.

Designed by Andrew Parks, the new game is set in a contested region of space nestled between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.  Both sides deploy their starships to explore the region, investigate mysterious happenings, and engage hostile vessels.

The game will be scenario-driven, with cooperative, competitive, and even solo missions included in the box.  Players can earn experience for their captains and improve their crew over a series of missions.  To keep the game fresh, it uses the “Venture Tile System” from the original Mage Knight to create a random game board each time it is played.

Star Trek:  Frontiers is for 1 - 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in about an hour.  MSRP is $79.99.

The Mage Knight Board Game has been a top-seller for WizKids, which recently published a second expansion set for that game (see “New Expansion for ‘Mage Knight Board Game’”).
