Marvel Comics has announced a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens one-shot that will reveal how C-3PO received the new red arm the droid will be sporting in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Star Wars Special: C-3PO #1 will arrive in December.

The comic will be written by James Robinson, with art by Tony Harris, the team behind the 1990s DC Comics Starman series.  The story will follow the protocol droid on a solo adventure which reveals how he received his replacement red arm.

“That’s a really exciting part of doing this story,” Robinson said. “I saw a photo of C-3PO with his red arm the other day and I thought ‘Wow, I’m the writer who gets to explain that.’”

This comic is one of several story nuggets revealed as part of the extensive Star Wars: Journey to the Force Awakens publishing program (see “ICv2: New 'Star Wars' Comics, Books Bridge Gap Between Movies”).
