Formal Ferret Games will release its new television-themed economic strategy game The Networks in Summer 2016. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
Designed by Gil Hova (Prolix, Battle Merchants), The Networks is an economic strategy game where players compete to build the most successful television network. Networks need a constant stream of new programs, so players must utilize their resources in a limited amount of time to grab the latest hot shows before their opponents, and schedule them with a limited amount of stars and ads. Stars require proper conditions, and ads will only produce extra money if they are in the correct time slot. Plus, as the shows age, the viewers lose interest, so the lineup must be juggled, and old shows canceled or put in reruns. The player that has the most viewers after five seasons wins.
The box contains 55 show cards, 49 star cards, 7 scoring track boards, 45 ad cards, 62 network cards, 5 player boards, 20 wooden cubes, 10 wood disc (2 in each player color), a season marker, viewer markers (300,200,100) and money chips. MSRP was not announced.
The game is for 1 -5 players, and plays in 60- 90 minutes. Kickstarter fulfillment is planned for June 2016. Hova told ICv2 Formal Ferret plans to use a distribution consolidator to release the game to trade after fulfillment.
The Kickstarter campaign, which runs through September 30, has already passed its goal, and has raised $44,156 from 1,201 backers as of this writing ($36.77/backer average).
