DC Comics’ December solicitations contain several titles capitalizing on its current or upcoming small screen releases: Supergirl, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, and Lucifer.

Though CBS’s Supergirl will premiere on October 26 (see “New 'Supergirl' Spot Teases Villains”), DC is betting interest in the series will carry into the New Year. Releasing on January 27, Supergirl Vol.1: The Girl of Steel includes  stories from Supergirl #0 -10 and #12, following  Kara Zor-El’s early attempts to adjust to life on Earth, as well as encounters with the JSA, Teen Titans, the Outsiders, and Lex Luthor.  The 304-page trade paperback includes stories by Jeph Loeb, Joe Kelly, Greg Rucka, Justin Gray, and Jimmy Palmiotti; with art by Ian Churchill, Norm Rapmund, Ed Benes, Amanda Conner, and Jimmy Palmiotti. The cover is by Michael Turner.  MSRP is $16.99.

In July, DC and Warner Bros. Animation released the alternate-universe  Justice League: Gods and Monster OVA (see “First Clip from 'Justice League: Gods and Monsters'”). In the weeks leading up to the home media release, DC released a digital-first prequel comic series.  On February 3, a hardcover collection of the comics, written J.M. DeMatteis and Bruce Timm, with art by Thony Silas (and others) will arrive. The 200-page Justice League: Gods and Monsters collection will include JL: GaM –Batman #1, JL: GaM –Superman #1, JL: GaM –Wonder Woman #1, and JL: GaM #1 -3. The collection will feature a cover by Darick Robertson. MSRP is $22.99.

On December 16, a new iteration of Vertigo’s Lucifer will launch. The series was announced at San Diego Comic-Con (see “Vertigo Announces 12 New Titles”), along with the creative team of Holly Black (The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Good Neighbors) and Lee Garbett (Loki), shortly after the TV adaptation was picked up by Fox (see “First Trailer for Bruckheimer's 'Lucifer'”).  

The comic storyline will follow Lucifer in the wake of God’s death, with Gabriel accusing Lucifer of His murder.  However, if Lucifer catches God’s real killer, his sins will be forgiven and he’ll be welcomed back into heaven.

Fox’s Lucifer will debut in 2016.
