Greater Than Games will release Spirit Island, a cooperative settler destruction game, in Q3 2016.

The strategic area-control game, designed by Eric Reuss, was announced in 2014 (see “'Spirit Island'”), and is the first game for GTS’s Fabled Nexus imprint. Players take the role of magical elemental spirits, trying to drive colonial settlers from developing their harmonious island paradise.  Each spirit has unique elemental powers, which they can use to spread blight and destruction amongst the invaders. Players can worth together, as well as enlist the help of the native islands to increase their power and drive the colonist away for good.

The box contains spirit panels, power cards (major, minor, innate), fear cards, adversary cards, wooden spirit presence tokens in 4 colors (13 of each), wooden Dahan huts, modular island board tiles, an invader deck, fear okens, an invader board, energy coins, and a rulebook.

The game is for 1 - 4 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 90 -120 minutes. MSRP is $49.95.

A Greater Than Games representative told ICv2 the company plans to support the game with the release of an as-yet-unnamed "Spirit Effects & Events” mini-expansion for the game sometime in the future.

The Kickstarter has raised over $73,000 from over 1,000 backers as of this writing, with one day remaining in the campaign.
