This week’s Batman-related comics bare a small but significant change on their credits pages: Batman character co-creator credit for Bill Finger.
Issues of Batman and Robin Eternal #3, Batman: Arkham Knight Genesis #3 and Gotham Academy #11 all include the line "Batman created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger" in the lower portion of the page. This marks the first time Finger has been given character creation credit, and not just writer credit, for his work on the comics.
DC Entertainment began taking steps toward this eventuality earlier this year, including announcing a new agreement with Finger’s family last month which would see Finger’s name added to the credits for both the new season of Gotham and the upcoming Batman v Superman film (see "DC Gives Finger Credits on 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and 'Gotham'").
DC also celebrated Bob Kane yesterday, as Batman’s co-creator was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Filmmaker Zack Snyder and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee were featured speakers, and Lee read a letter from Elizabeth Kane, who was also in attendance. During the dedication ceremony, Batman received the Guinness World Records title for Most Adapted Comic Book Character ever.
