Monopoly, the classic game of property collection and trading, gets the Cthulhu treatment with a themed game board, tokens, and cards, all taken from the dark tales written by H.P. Lovecraft. The new tokens include the Necronomicon, a Cultist’s Tablet, Cthulhu Statuette, Shining Trapezohedron, Hound Amulet, and Dagon Dagger. Crypts and Mausoleums replace houses and hotels, and Sanity and Knowledge replace Chance and Community Chest.
Monopoly: Cthulhu is for 2 - 6 players, ages 8 and up. MSRP is $34.95.
The Yahtzee: Cthulhu dice game includes a unique Cthulhu dice shaker cup and five creepy green dice (listed by USAopoly as glow-in-the-dark, but not being shipped as such, according to a company spokesperson) with the “Great Old One” replacing the 1 pip. A custom score pad is also included. The game is packaged in a box with a clear plastic front to showcase the dice shaker and dice.Yahtzee Cthulhu is for 1 or more players, ages 8 and up. MSRP is $29.95.
Both games will have a short term retailer exclusive with Entertainment Earth, with Cthulhu Monopoly currently available, and Cthulhu Yahtzee releasing in December 2015. Regular trade release for both games is planned for January.
USAopoly also recently announced plans to produce Monopoly and Yahtzee games with Yu-Gi-Oh! themes and images (see “USAopoly Licenses ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’”).
