Brick and mortar and online retailer Mile High Comics is selling one of its Denver warehouse buildings, citing industrial property value increases due in part to the "intense demand for buildings suitable for growing marijuana" in a state that has legalized possession and production, owner Chuck Rozanski announced this week.
Mile High has owned the 22,000 square foot 56th Avenue warehouse since 1986, but in his newsletter, Rozanski stated "(w)ith prices for warehouse buildings now soaring throughout the Denver area (due in large part to intense demand for buildings suitable for growing marijuana...), several recent appraisals made it clear to me that it was an ideal time for us to sell our smaller building.” Both of Mile High’s buildings are legally zoned for commercial pot-growing operations. "While pot growers still cannot legally open bank accounts, they have become the most active buyers of commercial warehouse buildings in Denver, usually showing up with sacks of cash," he said in another post.
The nearly six million comics currently located in the warehouse being sold will be moved to Mile High’s Jason St. Mega-Store, with a 50% off sale on most merchandise (except "new comics, a few variants, and our CGC-graded issues") to help cover the costs of the move.
