Wizard World, Inc. has announced that it will not hold its first game event in Atlanta in January as planned (see "Wizard World Announces First Game Show"), with the first gaming event now planned for Portland, Oregon, February 19-21. The Atlanta game event will not be held.
"In planning the debut of Wizard World Gaming, it became evident that we would not have enough time to put on a high-quality show in Atlanta," Wizard World CEO John Macaluso said of the decision. "We are confident and excited in making Portland the launch of our gaming series."
Content and events for the Portland game event will be similar to what was announced for Atlanta, according to the company. The game event will be ticketed separately; Wizard World Comic Con Portland tickets will also include attendance at the game event.
Two cities have been added to the markets in which Wizard plans to run game events in 2016. It has added Columbus, Ohio (July 29-31) and Pittsburgh, PA (November 4-6) to Portland, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Sacramento, Orlando, Chicago, and Austin for a total of ten. Over half of Wizard World’s shows will now include stand-alone game events.
