Oscar winner J.K. Simmons will play Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Simmons won an Academy Award last year for his role in Whiplash. He’s very familiar to geek audiences for his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the first three Spider-Man movies and in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and others.
Simmons also apparently has an eye for hip animated TV shows; he’s also done voice work in Gravity Falls and Legend of Korra.
Justice League, which will also star Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Godot, and Jason Momoa, among others, is set to begin production on April 11 (see "'Justice League' Production Start Set"), and is slated for release November 17, 2017 (see "Best in Shows – Q4 2017").
