A screen adaptation has been announced for Tokyopop’s Juror 13 OEL manga, via THR.

The film will be written by Michael Ferris (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, The Game), and produced by Stu Levy, the filmmaker and entrepreneur who founded Pop Media Group, Tokyopop’s parent company. The film will be co-produced by China’s Artention Films.

No talent or filmmaker is attached to the project yet, but according to THR, “Levy hopes to begin packaging this year with an aim to move into production in 2017. A release in late 2017 or 2018 in China and worldwide would follow.“

Juror 13, written by D.J. Milky and illustrated by Makoto Nakatsuka, was released in the U.S. in 2006. The sci-fi story follows Jeremy Rosen, whose life has taken a dark turn since he was exposed to an experimental brain scanning device. Things get worse when he receives a mysterious jury summons, as he’s thrust into a downward spiral of scams, double-crosses, and deceit. Is his world really unraveling, or is it all in his head?
