DC Comics has announced that it will offer the Digital First series, The Adventures of Supergirl as a six-issue periodical with 2 issues shipping every month starting in May.  DC then plans to publish a graphic novel edition of the digital comic in the fall.  But on May 13, DC will publish The Adventures of Supergirl #1, the first print edition of the series, which will include Digital First Chapters 1-3. 

The Adventures of Supergirl, which is written by Sterling Gates and illustrated by rotating team of artists that includes Bengal, Jonboy Meyers, Pop Mhan, Emanuela Lupacchino, Carmen Carnero, Cat Staggs, and Emma Vieceli, was inspired by the popularity of the CBS Supergirl TV series that debuted last fall (see “Supergirl Premiere Nets 16 Million Viewers”).  The Adventures of Supergirl digital comic debuted online in January. 

The stories in The Adventures of Supergirl parallel, but do not duplicate the plots in the new CBS TV series.  But not only do the characters in the comic physically resemble those on the TV show, the comic has the same fun, accessible vibe that emanates from the TV series, which features a radiant and optimistic performance from Melissa Benoist in the title role.
