At C2E2, Marvel Comics announced several new tie-in series and promotions for its upcoming Civil War II summer event  (see “Marvel Reveals Opposing Superhero Teams”).  We round them up here.

Spider-Man must choose a side in the conflict in the new Civil War Ii: Amazing Spider-Man #1, written by Christos Gage and illustrated by Travel Foreman. ““[Peter] isn’t about to pick a side until he can figure out what the Inhuman at the center of this is all about,” says Gage. “So he insists upon some one-on-one time. And given his friendship with Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, who now lives with the Inhumans, he gets it.” The four-issue series launches in June.

The Civil War Ii: Gods Of War miniseries will see the world’s first superhero, Hercules, choose a side. Launching in June, the miniseries is written by Dan Abnett and drawn by Emilio Laiso, with a first issue Cover by Jay Anacleto. Hercules will have to decide what role a god should play in this overwhelming conflict when neither side is purely right or wrong. He will be joined by a pantheon of ancient comrades, including Gilgamesh, Sigurd, Lorelei, Beowulf and Theseus as the battle for the soul of the Marvel Universe heats up.

The Civil War II: Choosing Sides six-issue anthology miniseries explores how different ancillary characters choose a side for Civil War II.  The first issue, launching in June, includes short stories from Declan Shalvey; Brandon Easton, Chad Bowers and Chris Sims; and Goran Sudzuka and Leonardo Romero. The characters include Damage Control and Night Thrasher, as well as the first part of a serialized story starring Nick Fury.

All New Wolverine #9 will feature the first occasion of X-23 teaming up with Old Man Logan as part of a Road to Civil War II tie-in. There will also be Road to Civil War II tie-ins issues of Ms. Marvel, Deadpool, and Invincible Iron Man.

Marvel is producing a promotional newspaper for Civil War II, akin to the New York Bulletin produced last year for Secret Wars.

Marvel also announced a new X-Men miniseries tied to the event earlier this month (see “ 'Civil War II' Teasers, Reveals”).
