Cinemax has put The Boys, based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, into development as a series, according to Deadline.  Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Neal Moritz will exec produce, with Rogen and Goldberg to direct the pilot and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who will also exec produce, to write (see “Geek TV News Round-Up”).  Ennis and Robertson will be co-executive producers.

The Boys had been in development as a feature film at Columbia, but it was put into turnaround back in 2012 (see “Columbia Whacks ‘The Boys’”).  Rogen had worked on a script, and Moritz and Jason Netter, all now executive producers, were also associated with that project.

Preacher, another Ennis series, is being made at AMC (see “AMC Seals Deal for ‘Preacher’ TV Series”).

This is Cinemax’s second comic-based series; Robert Kirkman’s Outcast was the first (see “Robert Kirkman’s ‘Outcast’ – The NYCC Trailer”).
