Art & Beauty Magazine #1 was released by Kitchen Sink Press in 1996. The magazine was a satirical take on the beauty industry with Crumb substituted his own esthetics and person standards for mainstream views, as well as reimagining the history of art and including quotations from artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Harvey Kurtzman. Art & Beauty #2 was released in 2003 by Fantagraphics. The third volume is included as part of the collection Art & Beauty Magazine, Drawings by R. Crumb. The book contains a foreword by Paul Morris, a longtime gallerist and supporter of Crumb’s work.
