Amblin Entertainment has picked up a package which will see Jim Carrey and Eli Roth adapt Aleister Arcane, an IDW comic written by Steve Niles.

According to THR, Carrey will star in the adaptation, and Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) will direct. Jon Croker (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death) will write the script. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films will produce along with Michael Aguilar.

Released by IDW in 2004, Aleister Arcane was written by Niles and illustrated by Breehn Burns. The story follows TV weatherman Aleister Green, who returns to his hometown to become a midnight horror show host. As Aleister Arcane, Green performs skits between movie segments, until sponsors balk at the gore. Then an incident with two kids leads him to legal problems and an early grave. Green puts a curse on the town before he dies, and only the kids will find a way to end it.

The title had been set up at Paramount when it was first published (see “Paramount Picks Up Aleister Arcane”), but the rights expired.
