They’re not the All-New, All-Different Avengers. They’re not even the West Coast Avengers. The Midwest’s pretty-okay super team, the Great Lakes Avengers, have finally scored their own ongoing series launching this fall, according to Nerdist.

The series will be written by Zac Gorman (Rick and Morty, Magical Game Time) and drawn by Will Robson (Star-Lord, Unit 5). The team, Mr. Immortal, Flatman, Big Bertha, and Doorman, has been reinstated as permanent members of the Avengers, but also relocated to Detroit.  It’s a chance to prove themselves, but can they live up to the demand?

The team was created by John Byrne, and first appeared in the pages of 1989’s West Coast Avengers #46. The team has appeared in many books, including Thunderbolts, The Mighty World of Marvel, The Avengers, and Deadpool Classics. The team headlined a mini-series GLA in 2005. The team has been called many names including the Lightning Rods, Great Lakes X-Men, Great Lakes Defenders, Great Lakes Champions and Great Lakes Initiative.  Famous members include Squirrel Girl, Hawkeye, Mockingbird and Deadpool (honorary).
