The new game, from Friedemann Friese, designer of the original Power Grid, brings the concepts and excitement of the original game to a faster-playing card game, which plays in 30 to 60 minutes for 2-6 players. Players take the roles of CEOs of power companies, each trying to out-produce the others in electricity. Much like Power Grid Deluxe, it includes a two-player version of the game where players play "Against the Trust."

Power Grid has been a wildly popular game ever since its original 2004 release (see "Rio Grande Announces Upcoming Releases"); in 2014, the deluxe version of the game, Power Grid Deluxe was released in celebration of the game’s 10-year Anniversary (see "'Power Grid Deluxe'").
