San Diego Comic-Con News: BOOM! Studios decided to make some San Diego Comic-Con announcements early, including SLAM!, Warlords of Appalachia, Mega Princess, and Namesake.

SLAM! Is a roller derby comic coming from BOOM! Box. Details on the creative team will be announced at San Diego Comic-Con.

Warlords of Appalachia is written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, with art by Jonas Scharf. The simmering tensions of current issues boil over into a second U.S. Civil War. The New Confederacy is crushed everywhere but Kentucky. When the son of Kade Mercer is captured by the President’s forces, Kade rises up to become the first feudal warlord of Appalachia. The series launches in October.

Coming from KaBOOM! is Mega Princess, written by Kelly Thompson and illustrated by Brianne Drouhard. On her 10th birthday, Princess Maxine is endowed with the gifts of every princess by her fairy godmother. Max just wants to be a detective, and she gets her chance when her little brother goes missing. Now she can put her mega princess powers to work. Release is planned for November.

Namesake is a four-issue miniseries written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Jakub Rebelka. Jordan Molossus has the unusual mission of delivering the remains of his deceased fathers to their final resting place. Unfortunately, that is Ektae, a world which interconnects with Earth for seven days every seven years. Release is planned for October.
