At its annual Gen Con briefing today, Fantasy Flight Games announced that it will launch its first true miniatures game, played with big forces on a table, with the Runewars Miniatures Game in early 2017. The figures will be sold unpainted, and will be fabricated with the same quality plastic seen in other FFG games.
The company announced a number of special features for the game. Figures will have bases which can interlock so a squad can be positioned or moved on a linked base.
Using cardboard double dials for every unit, how figures move and what actions they’re taking will both be decided at the same time.
And players won’t use a ruler to move, the game will come with cardboard templates.
Fantasy Flight launched Runewars, a big box board game ($99.95), in 2010 (see "FFG Announces 'Runewars'")
