Designed by Marc Andre (Splendor), Barony is a territorial control game set in medieval Europe (see “‘Barony’ by Designer of ‘Splendor’”). With the Sorcery expansion, Andre has added a number of new elements to the game, including the ability to add a fifth player to the game. Also new is the strictly limited Magic Tokens, which the players must compete with each other to collect. Magic Tokens can be spent to cast powerful magic spells, but once used the tokens are removed from the game.
Barony Sorcery includes 9 territory tiles, 75 tokens, 7 knights, 5 cities, 2 strongholds, 14 villages, and a scoring counter. As an expansion, it requires the base game to play, but expands it to a 2 to 5 player game. It is intended for players aged 10 and up, and plays in about an hour. MSRP is $24.99.
