Dark Horse will release a historical collection of comic stories dealing with the hysteria surrounding marijuana from the 1930’s to the 1950s and beyond. Reefer Madness will launch on March 29.

The collection is edited by Eisner and Harvey Award winner Craig Yoe. It includes Adventure Comics stories by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster as well as works by Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, and Jerry Robinson. Stories include titles like Teenage Dope Slaves, Satan’s Cigarettes and Hopped-Up Killer. The book includes a long introduction summarizing the anti-pot campaigns of “America’s First Drug Czar,” the first commissioner of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Bureau of Narcotics, Harry Anslinger and newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst.
