FX has named Michael Green as co-writer and showrunner for the network’s adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting.
Green is currently co-showrunner on Starz American Gods series with Bryan Fuller, and was co-executive producer on Heroes, and co-producer on Smallville for two seasons. He was also screenwriter on Logan, Alien Covenant, and Blade Runner 2049. Green will co-write the script with creator Brian K. Vaughan. FX began developing the property last year (see "'Y: The Last Man' Adaptation Moves To TV").
The critically-acclaimed and best-selling Vertigo series was written by Vaughan (Saga, Runaways, Ex Machina) with art by Pia Guerra. The story follows Yorick Brown, the last surviving human with a Y chromosome, after a plague wipes out all the planet’s male chromosomes, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand.
