James Cameron is returning to the Terminator franchise, according to Deadline, and is in early talks with Deadpool director Tim Miller to direct. Development is being financed by Skydance, which co-financed Terminator: Genisys. Some Terminator rights revert to Cameron in 2019, who has not been involved with the franchise since Terminator 2.
The sequel to Terminator: Genisys was canceled based on the performance of the first (see "Best in Shows Update"); this will be a totally new take on the story.
