February has brought some geek TV news.

Marvel has finally revealed the core cast for the upcoming adaptation of Runaways, which is being developed by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage for Hula (see “Marvel's 'Runaways' Receives Series Order from Hulu”). The series is based on the award-winning comic created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona.

Teen Wolf alum Rhenzy Feliz will play nerdy Alex Wilder. Lyrica Okano (The Affair) will play Nico Minoru, an intelligent and independent outsider. The model-perfect character of Karolina Dean will be played by Virginia Gardner (Project Almanac). Ariela Barer (One Day at a Time) will play purple-haired and bespectacled Gert Yorkes. Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) will play high school heartthrob Chase Stein. The youngest Runaway, Molly Hernandez, will be played by Allegra Acosta (100 Things to Do Before High School).

A release date has not been announced. No word yet on whether Old Lace the dinosaur will make an appearance in the series.

Deadline reports that Black Lightning has found a home at the CW after a brief dalliance with Fox, which opted not to proceed with a pilot (see “'Black Lightning' Gets Pilot At Fox”). The TV series is being produced by Greg Berlanti, who has also has a hand in Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Riverdale. The series is being written by the husband-and-wife duo of Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil.

One of DC’s first Black superheroes, Black Lightning was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eden. The television show would also mark the first major Black superhero for the CW’s lineup. No release date was revealed.

IDW is working with Ellen Pompeo’s Calamity Jane to co-produce The Devil, a big event limited TV series based on the novel The Devil: Britain’s Most Feared Underworld Taxman by Graham Johnson. The series focuses on Stephen French, a real-life criminal mastermind who outwitted and robbed rival crime lords in Liverpool during the emerging drug trade of the 1980s.

|Dave Dilley (Warrior) will write the pilot and executive produce. Calamity Jane’s Pompeo and Laura Holstein will also executive produce alongside IDW’s Ted Adams and David Ozer.
