There has been lots of news on upcoming geek movie productions in the last week, and we round it up here.

Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind, Labyrinth) has joined Alita: Battle Angel, THR is reporting.  The adaptation of the graphic novel is being produced by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Rosa Salazar is playing the title character. The movie is currently in production in Texas. Connelly will play a villain role.

Legendary and Warner bros. Pictures released a new stylized Japanese movie poster for Kong: Skull Island. The new poster is reminiscent of Japanese Kaiju movie advertisements, and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts proudly shared it on Twitter. Last week, an IMAX poster inspired by Bob Peak’s Apocalypse Now poster was released (see “'Aquaman,' 'Kong: Skull Island,' 'Han Solo,' 'Avatar'”). The film opens on March 10.

The DC Extended Universe Twitter account released a new picture from the upcoming Justice League feature, showing Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman ready for battle. There have been many pictures shared (see “Shots from 'Justice League,' 'Wonder Woman,' 'Dark Tower'” and “'Justice League,' 'Alita: Battle Angel,' 'Predator'”). The film releases in theaters on November 17.

Aquaman may be adding a Star Wars alumni to its cast, THR is reporting.  Temuera Morrison is currently in negotiations to play Aquaman’s father. Morrison is best known for his role of Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.  Nicole Kidman is in early negotiations to play Aquaman’s mother (see “ICv2: 'Aquaman,' 'Kong: Skull Island,' 'Han Solo,' 'Avatar'”). The film is set to start filming in April in Australia.
