NBC has ordered a pilot for Redliners, a new series based on short stories by Charlaine Harris, according to Deadline.
Redliners will be co-written by comic creator Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel, Bitch Planet, Pretty Deadly), and Shaun Cassidy. The series, which is described as mixing humor, romance, and espionage, will follow a pair of reactivated former government operatives who find themselves ensnared in a larger conspiracy while trying to maintain their undercover identities.
Harris’s Midnight, Texas trilogy also inspired a show, which NBC ordered as a midseason entry into their 2016-17 schedule, but the network has yet to schedule it.
Harris is best known for her Southern Vampire Mysteries series, which inspired HBO’s True Blood and comics from IDW (see “'True Blood' Graphic Novel in February”). In late December, Dynamite released a graphic novel adaptation of Harris’s Grave Surprise (see “Dynamite Adapts Charlaine Harris' 'Grave Surprise'”).
